In the south-western corner of Cambodia, a newly created Health Center serves a rural community of people who have been resettled to make room for tourist developments on the beaches of Koh Kong. The Health Center has been built by the NGO People In Need, and the NGO also provided Post-Partum Hemorrhage Training to selected staff members. Among the selected few was Midwife Moth Serfi, who saved a woman’s life within two months of completing the training by using her knew knowledge and anti-shock garments to stop a young mother from bleeding out.
Midwife Moth Serfi works at the Tanoun Health Center, which was build in 2015 by People In Need, with funding from the Czech Government.
In September 2017, Moth Serfi participated in the Post-Partum Hemorrhage Training led by People In Need. Among other things, she learned how to use anti-shock garments. Two months later, this knowlegde made it possible for her to save a young mother’s life.

Chhouen Youn, 24, and her baby girl Vichheka. Youn’s life was saved thanks to midwife Serfi’s quick thinking and use of the anti-shock garment, when the young mother started to hemorrhaging heavily after giving birth.
Moth Serfi takes joy and pride in being a mid-wife, and feels happy when she sees the healthy children and mothers that she has helped during birth.
